Accessories to Use to Mount Part # TRA6927M3NB-001 on a Stainless Box
Posted by Michael Crudele on
In the past, we’ve had a client express his interests in our mounting accessories for part # TRA6927M3NB-001. He wanted to be able to post the antenna to a stainless box and wanted our suggestions regarding the issue. Do we have something to alleviate this problem? Yes, we do! We have an adapter for the part # TRA6972M3-NB-001 by the part # VTPM800 (not MTPM800). Part # VTPM800 is a Laird/ Antenex ¾ inch NMO to 5/8 in N-female coax adapter. It is used when mounting to surfaces up to 1 inch thick. However, if you would like to use a...

MIMO/Diversity Omnidirectional Antenna for 4G/LTE
Posted by Michael Crudele on
A client was recently looking for a new MIMO omnidirectional antenna for 3G/4G/LTE. He expressed his confusion and stated that he was originally looking at EAD’s LMO7270 but hoping to receive other ideas. So we come to the main point of this blog, do we have the EAD’s LMO7270 or an equivalent? Yes. We offer multiple antennas for your dual 3G/4G/LTE MIMO needs, but the ones we recommend are RFMAX’s RBDM-44-SS-6 and RBMM-44-SS-6. RBDM-44-SS-6 is RFMAX’s direct mount MIMO 3G/4G/LTE/Diversity LTE cellular antenna. With dimensions of 7.9 in x 3.5 in x1.8 in, it’s a compact and ultra-rugged antenna designed...

How to Convert dBd
Posted by Michael Crudele on
There may be some confusion regarding the conversion of dBd to dBi or vice versa so, in order to clear up the confusion, we decided to create a small chart with the conversion formulas for both. Hope this helps! Gain in dBd Gain in dBi - 2.15 dB Gain in dBi Gain in dBd + 2.15 dB To keep updated with our promos and events follow us and like us on Facebook! Best Antenna for Digi Industrial LTE Modems, Routers & Gateways
Posted by Michael Crudele on
I received a call today from a client that is planning to use the new IX14 Industrial dual LTE (MiMo) router from Digi. The gentleman wanted to know what antennas I would recommend he use with this router/gateway which would be housed in a polycarbonate NEMA enclosure at a fixed location. Since Digi International offers several of these types of industrial LTE cellular devices with MiMo LTE cellular connectivity, I figured I'd blog about ALL of the modems in this category. That would include: Digi IX14: (new item as of Q1 2019) LTE CAT1 with dual SIM for carrier failover and flexibility Digi TransPort...

Antenna Ground Plane Calculation
Posted by Michael Crudele on
Q) I would like to know the difference between TRA6927M3PW-001 and TRA6927M3PWN-001, which makes the gains so much different. For the first one, peak gain at 698-960 is 3.5dB and the second one is 0dB. A) The only difference between the two is that the TRA6927M3PWN-001 does not require a metallic ground plane. That being said, that would be the answer to the gain-loss as well, as you will lose a substantial amount of gain when the antenna is not mounted on a metal base. The amount/size of the “ground-plane” required for the optimal performance of a monopole antenna is determined by the frequency you...
