Antenna that Works with BCD996XT Scanner

Posted by Michael Crudele on

Recently, we had a client reach out to us about part # WPD136M6C-001 in regards to setting up a BCD996XT scanner. They were looking to see if that specific antenna could be used with a base magnet or a bracket?   Firstly, I’d like to start off by explaining that BCD996XT is capable of scanning a range of frequencies from 2 MHz to 1300 MHz (see below). Unfortunately, our antenna part WPD136M6C-001 only covers the VHF (136-174 MHz), UHF (380-520 MHz), and P25 (760-870 MHz), so depending on what channels you are looking to monitor, this may – or may...

What Antenna and NMO Mount Should I Install That Will Connect to a Kentwood N800K Radio

Posted by Michael Crudele on

A customer wanted to know what antenna they could install utilizing an NMO mount that would connect to a Kentwood NX-800k radio, a radio similar to our MPLCJ8.   Our recommendations for antenna:   B4505CNS: This Laird antenna is a chrome 32 inch UHF whip antenna that doesn’t need a ground plane. It also features a spring base for bumpy roads. B4502NS: This Laird/ Antenex B4502NS antenna is a 15 in long, chrome base coil omnidirectional whip antenna that operates in the 450-470 MHz frequency range. A metal ground plane is not required for this part.   Our NMO mount...

Good Quality 2 Meter and 70 cm Mobile Antenna with VSWR on MURS and GMRS

Posted by Michael Crudele on

In the past we had a client approach us looking for a good quality 2 meter and 70-centimeter mobile antenna that had decent VSWR on MURS (Multi-Use Radio Service) and GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service). They wanted an antenna that would have a bandwidth to cover both GRMS and MURS frequencies, so we have three recommendations. We recommend the WPD136M6C-001, the RBC150/450/758, and the NMO2/70B.   The RFMAX WPD136MC-001 is a multi-band heavy duty mobile antenna that operates throughout the VHF, UHF and P25 bands. It has an IP rating of 66 meaning that it can withstand high volumes of dust, and...
