Difference between Part # RDA698/2700SSM and RDA698/2700-1-SSM

Posted by Michael Crudele on

Q) What is the difference between part numbers RDA698/2700SSM and RDA698/2700-1-SSM?   A) Firstly, I want to pose a question. Will you need to pass any carrier certification testing for your device? If you do need a certification, it leads me to the main difference between the two antennas. Part # RDA698/2700SSM does not have a high enough “efficiency” to pass the testing that AT&T, Verizon, or Sprint require. On the other hand, part # RDA698/2700-1-SSM is recommended if you plan on receiving a carrier certification. This antenna costs a bit more but will easily pass the carrier test for...

Low Profile Antenna to be mounted on a Truck

Posted by Michael Crudele on

Recently, we had a client call in to inquire about a low profile antenna that could be mounted onto a truck with a dome-like shape. He reached out to us stating that he had an AER3100 Cradlepoint and was in the process of purchasing a “command” vehicle for future events. He also needed a little help clearing up his confusion regarding the modems. He said that his AER3100 has two LTE connections but the modems only come with one SIM card slot so he wanted to know whether he had to purchase two antennas or one for the two LTE...

MIMO/Diversity Omnidirectional Antenna for 4G/LTE

Posted by Michael Crudele on

A client was recently looking for a new MIMO omnidirectional antenna for 3G/4G/LTE. He expressed his confusion and stated that he was originally looking at EAD’s LMO7270 but hoping to receive other ideas. So we come to the main point of this blog, do we have the EAD’s LMO7270 or an equivalent? Yes.   We offer multiple antennas for your dual 3G/4G/LTE MIMO needs, but the ones we recommend are RFMAX’s RBDM-44-SS-6 and RBMM-44-SS-6. RBDM-44-SS-6 is RFMAX’s direct mount MIMO 3G/4G/LTE/Diversity LTE cellular antenna. With dimensions of 7.9 in x 3.5 in x1.8 in, it’s a compact and ultra-rugged antenna designed...

Reverse Polarity (RP) SMA vs. Standard SMA. What is the difference?

Posted by Michael Crudele on

I get many inquiries each month from customers looking for 50 ohm Coaxial cable assemblies for WiFi, cellular LTE, and 900 MHz modems, gateways, routers and radios with SMA connectors.  The problem is that there is often confusion concerning the terminology used to describe SMA vs. RP-SMA (reverse polarity SMA) RF coaxial connectors. The most common question that I get on this topic is: How do I tell the difference between SMA and RP-SMA connectors??? So, I thought that our blog would be a good place to clear up any confusion once and for all. Here are the facts... Standard SMA Male has...
