In the past we had a client approach us looking for a good quality 2 meter and 70-centimeter mobile antenna that had decent VSWR on MURS (Multi-Use Radio Service) and GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service). They wanted an antenna that would have a bandwidth to cover both GRMS and MURS frequencies, so we have three recommendations. We recommend the WPD136M6C-001, the RBC150/450/758, and the NMO2/70B.
The RFMAX WPD136MC-001 is a multi-band heavy duty mobile antenna that operates throughout the VHF, UHF and P25 bands. It has an IP rating of 66 meaning that it can withstand high volumes of dust, and water wouldn’t be able to enter the antenna in large harmful amounts. It’s a commercial-grade, heavy-duty vehicular antenna with an omnidirectional pattern designed for full-spectrum frequency usage. It has excellent quality and RF performance, offering 3-6 dBi gain while handling up to 100 Watts of input power.
The RFMAX Triband whip Antenna, part # RBC150/450/758, was created to maximize the coverage area of 2 meter, 70 centimeter, and all-band P25 mobile radios. It has an IP rating of 67, which means that it’s fully protected against harmful dust and it can withstand immersion in water with a depth of up to 1 meter for 30 minutes. The antenna is economical, impact-resistant, small, and aesthetically pleasing with a spring inches from the base to increase flexibility.
The last and final recommendation we have is Pulse – Larsen’s NMO2/70B. It’s a dual-band coil and factory-tuned black whip for 2 meter/70-centimeter amateur radio frequencies. This antenna has a height of 34.5 inches and a max power of 100 Watts.
