Antenna with UL Type 4X Training

October 1, 2019 11:34:10 AM EDT

We recently came in contact with a client that was looking for an antenna with UL Type 4X rating similar to IP67. He claimed that he wanted to mount external antennas on a NEMA box.

In response, all of our antennas are typically IP rated, but not UL rated because all of our antennas do not have any active element which means UL rating is not required for our antennas. In my opinion, if I were putting a router in a NEMA box (I’m assuming we are talking about a cellular router?) I would use the appropriate version of the RFMAX “brick” style antenna. This antenna is super heavy duty with what I believe to be excellent gasketing.  Below you will find web links for a 2-in-1 (dual cellular) 3-in-1 (GPS + dual cellular) and 5-in-1 (GPS, dual cellular & dual Wi-Fi) models.  In addition, I’ve included hi-resolution photos for you to view.

Antenna Similar to Alien’s ALR8696-C

October 1, 2019 10:08:07 AM EDT

Recently a client approached us about the Alien part # ALR8696-C. They were developing new software and need an antenna that utilized LHCP (left-hand circular polarization), which part # ALR8696-C does not. In response, I have come up with two suggestions, both of which come in LH and RH circular polarizations.

Suggestion 1

RCPL-902-09-SNF: This antenna measures in at 10 x 10 inches and features a gain of 9 dBic, a fixed N-Female connector, and an IP rating of 67.

Suggestion 2

RCPL-902-8-RTM-8: This antenna is the industry standard for passive UHF VHF RFID installations. It measures in at 10 x 10 inches and features a gain of 8.5 dBic, an 8-inch pigtail, and RP TNC-male connectors.

If you need a mount for either of the two antennas for your use, we recommend part # HDMNT-100MM.

Antenna that Works with BCD996XT Scanner

October 1, 2019 9:22:16 AM EDT

Recently, we had a client reach out to us about part # WPD136M6C-001 in regards to setting up a BCD996XT scanner. They were looking to see if that specific antenna could be used with a base magnet or a bracket?

Firstly, I’d like to start off by explaining that BCD996XT is capable of scanning a range of frequencies from 2 MHz to 1300 MHz (see below). Unfortunately, our antenna part WPD136M6C-001 only covers the VHF (136-174 MHz), UHF (380-520 MHz), and P25 (760-870 MHz), so depending on what channels you are looking to monitor, this may – or may not- be the right antenna. Please keep in mind that we DO NOT offer an antenna that can cover the entire range of the BCD996XT. As for mounting, this antenna requires a separate NMO base with a BNC connector. We have two choices to choose from, thru-hole or magnetic.

  • NMOMMRBNC (magnetic mount with BNC connector): A Pulse/ Larsen magnetic roof mount for NMO antennas measuring in at 3.5 inches in diameter. The magnetic features 80 lbs. pull strength and a 12 foot RG-58U cable with BNC connectors.
  • MB8B (thru-hole mount with BNC connector): A Laird-Antenex ¾ thru-hole NMO mount optimized for vehicular roof mounting of NMO type antennas. It features a 17 foot RG-58A/U cable and BNC-Male installed connectors.

Frequency Range of BCD996XT:

  • 25.0000 - 512.0000 MHz (the WPD antenna only covers 137-174 & 380-520 MHz)
  • 758.0000 - 823.9875 MHz (the WPD antenna covers this entire range)
  • 849.0125 - 868.9875 MHz (the WPD antenna covers this entire range)
  • 894.0125 - 960.0000 MHz (the WPD antennas does NOT cover this range)
  • 1240.0000 - 1300.0000 MHz (the WPD antenna does NOT cover this range)

Mounting Hardware for A5060 Large Shelf Antennas

August 29, 2019 3:14:29 PM EDT

Q) Is there any mounting hardware for A5060 Large Shelf Antennas?

A) Unfortunately, A5060 Large Shelf Antennas does not have any available mounting hardware because they basically “sit” on a shelf or mount flush to a wall. If you would prefer to find a “mount-able” extra-large antenna you should look at the antenna below…

RFMAX's Description on How to Set-Up an Antenna with the HDMNT-100MM Mount and a Mounting Plate

The green arrow points to RFMAX’s R9029-XL-12SSF antenna. This part is a 30 x 12.5 x 0.5 inch, 9 dBic antennae that can be mounted on a wall, mast, etc. It’s a low profile circularly polarized RFID antenna that operates in the FCC range of 902-928 MHz and includes a 12-inch pigtail with SMA-Female connectors.

The orange arrow points to RFMAX’s HDMNT-100MM mount, a heavy-duty die-cast bracket that articulates to both vertical and horizontal plane. Designed to hold any device that utilizes 100mm VESA mounting patterns.

The red arrow points to a mounting plate, part # 71634. You would utilize this mounting plate and the heavy-duty mount (HDMNT-100MM) highlighted above to post the antenna. The mounting plate is suitable for both interior and exterior mounting requirements under all environmental conditions.

Zebra AN480 RFID Antenna Mounting Options

April 5, 2016 11:48:58 AM EDT

I had a customer contact me this morning, very frustrated that he could not find a way to mount the Motorola / Zebra AN480 antennas he had purchased for his RFID project.  I told him that the AN480 antennas from Zebra have a customize mounting bolt pattern, specifically so you can’t buy mounts anywhere else – BUT they never came out with any decent mounts.  So, here is what I recommended to him, and to you...

Purchase RFMAX part # S9028PCx96RTN (same exact antenna, IP54 rated, but with pre-attached 8 foot/96 inch cable & RPTNC connector) /s9028pcl96rtn-s9028pcr96rtn-10x10-inch-ip54-rated-circularly-polarized-rfid-antenna-with-4-mounting-studs-fcc.html

Or, purchase RFMAX part # PAx90209H-FNF (same antenna, IP67 rated, with fixed N-Female connector) /pal90209h-fnf-par90209h-fnf10x10-inch-ip-67-rated-circularly-polarized-antenna-fcc.html

These two antennas can utilize the HEAVY DUTY mount, which locks firmly in place, RFMAX part # HDMNT: /hdmnt-heavy-duty-aluminum-mounting-bracket-wall-or-mast-mount.html

Or, they can utilize our fully articulating, easy to install EZM6 mount: /fully-articulating-die-cast-wall-or-mast-mounting-kit-for-2-or-4-stud-panel-antennas.html
