RFMAX Range Extender Kits for the Motorola VC5090 or VH10 Forklikft Mounted Mobile Computers provide a significant boost in RF / Wi-Fi connectivity to your LAN for the VC5090 or VH10. This kit is typically used as a Forklift Antenna, or truck mounted, to connect your VC5090 or VH10 to the wireless network in the warehouse or distribution center.
The antenna operates at both 2.4 and 5.0 GHz with a gain of 4.5/5.5 dBi for 802.11 A,B,G,N. The magnetic NMO mount features a powerful magnet and is designed to mount outside the vehicle cabin or roll cage for maximum performance. During installation, you *MUST* set your computer's settings to default to the external antenna.

- VC5090 antenna kit greatly improves range
I've seen Motorola Zebra recommend the WTS2450-RPSMA antenna for use on the external antenna port of the VC5090, and repeatedly users get very little to no performance improvement. Why? Because when the VC5090, VC70, MH10 or any other mobile PC is used on a forklift, the roof, or overhead guard acts as a "Faraday Cage" trapping the wireless signal inside or severely distorting it. Installing a WTS2450-RPSMA antenna does not solve that problem. However, if you use an antenna kit that installs ABOVE the overhead guard, that eliminates all interference, and provides the antenna with a clear path to the WAP / wireless access point.
I have seen this VC5090 range extender antenna kit used SUCCESSFULLY for many years. The kit is comprised of an indoor / outdoor rated, high-powered antenna (for both 2.4 & 5 Ghz) a magnetic mounting base, a 12 foot coaxial cable and an RPSMA connector. When using this, or any other external antenna, it is critical that you configure your unit to "persistent" external antenna settings, or else when you re-start the unit, it will default back to using the internal antenna, thus nullifying the gains you achieve with the external antenna kit.
GIve it a try, and I think you'll agree it greatly improves the range of your VC5090 mobile PC.
